Shop Wood Fired Waldo Pots
About the CollectionThese pieces were all wood-fired, which has to be done in a special kiln. Where I live, it’s not easy to find a wood-firing, so I flew with my pottery across the country for this experience. Read all about this experience in this blog.
Inside the kiln it’s a hot and ashy affair with fire whipping its way from the front box through all the pottery and out through the back chimney. The wood-firing produces completely unique and one-of-a-kind pottery with surfaces that come to life through a reduction atmosphere, the effects of flying ash, and the path of the fire.
These special pieces were fired at the Oki Doki Studio train kiln in April 2026 under artist Sophie Yoon’s guidance.
